In memoriam to some J Class skippers that have left us but are never forgotten

Porter Loring Jr.  was a wonderful supporter of model sailing on all levels. He donated to the AMYA and created one of the largest, if not *the* largest radio control model sailboat collections I have ever known. His boats numbered 65, including 6 J Class, 3 A Class, 3 M class, 3 EC-12, 3 IOM,  and just about 1 of every class past and present.  I was fortunate to be able to  help him begin to dismantle it so that others would know the joy of model sailing.

It was through his generosity and enjoyment of model sailing that more skippers are sailing today than ever before in the San Antonio area and he will always be remembered .

Taylor Kew was just about the nicest guy you could hope to meet. He was an avid skipper along with his uncle Alan Kew. They both had Rangers built for them in time for the NCR in New Bern N.C. and basically went on to launch and race the boats, no easy task.  I knew Taylor only a short time but was always taken with his love of model sailing and his passion for being at the pond on the water.
